Photo Prayer 2021-20 -- Sunshine Infused
Call me a sappy simpleton, but sunlight makes me happy. I am happy sunbathing on a secluded beach in Southern California, the sound of the waves in my ears. I am happy hopping rock to sunlit rock along the Pedernales River near the place of my baptism. I am happy reading in the sunroom, Dvořák on the stereo. Having been in the light, I like to think I am now just as happy in the shadows; that having been blessed, I will always be blessed, sunshine infused, glowing in the dark. May it be so! I’d rather die than go back to living in fear. And even if we die, as die we must, will not the light find us?

There's a mystical quality in this photograph. Yes, sunshine is the source of life on this planet. And the source of wonder and joy. In this busy life in which we find ourselves, photographs like this remind us to visit the mysteries of our being.
