God comes into the restaurants of our hearts looking like a bag lady. She does not arrive at the head of a large party promising lavish orders and big tips. She sits alone at the counter and, when she orders, says, “Bring me the chef’s special. Let the cooks do their best. Surprise me!” She has been in before and, whatever we serve, she never complains. She seems delighted with every concoction. What shall we serve her today? And what shall we charge?
