I look west towards the sea.
The sun has set yet the sky still glows.
Below me the foothills fall away
in lovely waves of purple haze.
The world seems peaceful, perfect.
Oh, I know. You don't have to tell me.
I know the world is neither peaceful nor perfect,
yet these are the moments that call me,
even though I am neither peaceful nor perfect.
These moments rekindle my faith in Thee,
you who knew agony and death.
Hold you they could not.
