The wind of the Spirit lifts us;
Christ, the string, connects us
to our Father, the steady ground.
How high shall we glide
before we are gathered in?

This photo reminds me of a very precious day with my father. He and I had constructed a box kite from scratch. We bought the paper and the wood and slowly constructed it in the workshop. We took it out on just such a day as this, with storm clouds rolling in, and plenty of wind. It flew beautifully, way, way up. As the wind was getting stronger and stronger we thought we'd better reel it in. But we didn't quite get it down. A tremendous gust exploded it right before our eyes. I don't remember finding any pieces. Neither of us was disappointed because the event was just so AWESOME!
